Update. The carved stones that sat above the Boys and Girls entrances to BCI were not auctioned off as planned but given to the BCI Alumni group. I could not think of a better place for them to go. It was a grand school and UE opportunity but sadly you cannot stand in the way of progress.-Jesus Jones.

Well a piece of Belleville history was torn down by the Algonqiun-Lakeshore district Catholic school board on Saturday, April 24,2004. The Belleville Colliegate Institute was torn down to make way for a sports field for the neighboring Nicholson Catholic College and St Micheals catholic schools. The building served as a highschool until 1992 when it was boarded up. In 2003 The Algonqiun-Lakeshore district Catholic school board bought the property. The carved stones that said Boys and Girls will be auctioned off. Underground will make some bids on those fine pieces of history when I find the location and date of the auction. many petitions and protests were made but to no avail, the school came down.- Jesus Jones
